DOEA Regional Aging in Place Forum to be Held at VISTE

This year, the Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) will hold their Regional Aging in Place Forum at VISTE (Volunteers In Service To the Elderly) in Lakeland. The Forum will be held on Oct. 28 and will focus on Safely accessing Your Functional Environment, according to Alice O’Reilly, VISTE President.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. at the VISTE Headquarters at 1232 E. Magnolia. A seminar regarding SAFE Homes and Fire Safety will be presented by Buddy Cloud, Coordinator of Transportation and SAFE Homes with the DOEA, and Stephen Slotter, of ALF Core Trainer Certification with the DOEA.

A panel discussion regarding Success in Solidarity will begin at approximately 10:45 a.m. Featured on the panel will be:

  • Alice O’Reilly, VISTE President,
  • Monarcha Marcet, President of Adventure in Building, Inc., and
  • Mirtha Whaley, Ph.D., OTR/L, at Nova Southeastern University.

VISTE’s mission is to enable the frail elderly to remain safely and independently in their own homes.
