About VISTE

Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE) is a community-based nonprofit organization serving older adults throughout Lakeland, Bartow, Mulberry, and Fort Meade, Florida. Since 1983, VISTE's mission has been to help seniors remain independent, safe, and living in their own homes for as long as possible.

Position Overview

VISTE is seeking a Part-Time Transportation Driver (average 15-20 hours per week) to provide transportation for senior clients using the driver's own personal vehicle (mileage is reimbursed). This position plays a vital role in helping older adults access medical appointments, grocery stores, pharmacies, and other essential destinations.

Key Responsibilities

• Transport senior clients safely, courteously, and professionally using your personal vehicle.
• Provide reliable transportation to medical appointments and other essential destinations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and dependable vehicle suitable for transporting clients.
• Follow scheduled appointments and routes in a timely manner.
• Utilize GPS and navigation applications to travel efficiently throughout Polk County.

Qualifications

• Valid Florida driver's license.
• Proof of current auto insurance.
• Reliable personal vehicle in good working condition that is clean, safe, appropriate for transporting clients, and of sufficient height to allow easy entry and exit. For example, sedans and cross-over SUVs are acceptable.  Large SUVs and pickup trucks are not acceptable.
• Knowledge of Polk County roads and communities, or the ability to effectively use navigation applications.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Compassion for older adults and a commitment to helping seniors maintain their independence.
• Experience working with seniors is preferred.
