Thanksgiving and Christmas are special times of the year meant for sharing with friends and family. But while this season brings happiness to many, it also brings loneliness to those who may not have family or friends to celebrate with.
Last year, we received this heartfelt note from William after he received his meal and plant.
“I’m an 86-year-old man in south Lakeland. I make very little, and the things VISTE gives me make a huge difference. I’ve received Thanksgiving meals for three years now. I planted the mums from the last two years, and they are growing well! This year I planted the poinsettia. It’s gorgeous – it has sparkles on it! Everyone I know has passed on, and I have no one now. That’s why VISTE means so much. Please be sure that everyone knows how much I appreciate everything that VISTE does for me. “ ~ WILLIAM, client
Our clients express their gratitude for VISTE every day, but they know that it is because of YOU, they owe the most thanks of all. With your support, William and clients like him visit with volunteers who deliver Thanksgiving meals as well as other services throughout the year. These interactions help combat social isolation.
At this most charitable time of the year, will you please consider a Holiday donation? As we prepare for the 25th Annual Thanksgiving Meal Delivery to 2,000 local seniors, your donation of $15 will provide a Thanksgiving dinner, with all the fixings, to one grateful VISTE client. Also, in December we’ll deliver 400 Holiday care boxes to VISTE clients. Your donation of $25 will fill a box of household essentials such as soap, lotion, laundry detergent, items we often take for granted but mean so much to them. Purchase one or several meals and boxes to brighten their holidays.
