President’s Message

Steve Bissonnette

April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the importance of volunteering and honoring the significant contributions volunteers make by generously donating their time, talents, and treasures.

Since 1983, volunteers have been the heart and soul, the lifeblood of VISTE. Indeed, we all owe a debt of gratitude to the legion of volunteers that have come before us during the past 40 years. Their collective efforts over that time have improved the quality of life of tens of thousands of our elderly family, friends, and neighbors in need. As Dr. Seuss said, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

As we celebrate this 40th Anniversary our attention shifts ahead to the next generation of seniors in need. With much work still before us, we stop and take this moment to express gratitude and say THANK YOU for carrying on this legacy of care and hope. With clients that now range from 70- 107, your ongoing commitment brings great comfort to those that have come to rely on us to be there for them today, and for years to come.

Perhaps Helen Keller put it best – “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

On behalf of the more than 4,100 seniors we currently serve, THANK YOU for your dedication and perseverance to this life-affirming work!!!
