VISTE Schedules Education Class Focusing on Credit Problems Facing the Elderly

At VISTE (Volunteers In Service To the Elderly), programs are scheduled to meet the needs of the whole person, according to Volunteer Coordinator Ashley Miller. This month’s Coffee and Learn education class is just one example of that.

On April 16, from 10 a.m. until noon at the VISTE offices at 1232 E. Magnolia in Lakeland, VISTE’s Education Committee will present “Help for Credit Problems,” a seminar geared toward seniors which will give credit counseling information.

“We believe it is important to provide services that assist the whole person and that meet as many of the needs of our clients as possible,” Miller said. “These education classes are one aspect of that endeavor.”

The April 16 seminar will be led by Janet Folkerts, a certified FICO Pro and FCRA Specialist. Folkerts is the executive director of Spectrum Resources, a Polk County organization that has been providing financial education and advocacy in debt and credit issues since 2002.

She will be teaching the key elements of credit and credit scoring, the top myths of credit cards and how to deal effectively and efficiently with creditors in today’s economy.

There will be a question and answer period.

There is limited seating for the seminar, and reservations are requested by April 10th. Reservations may be made by either calling 863.284.0828, ext. 7 or by emailing an RSVP to: [email protected].
