President’s Message: Our Traditions Become Our Legacy

Steve Bissonnette, President

This message is being written on a very special day as my wife and I celebrate our wedding anniversary! On this occasion we often reminisce about how we met, how the family has grown since, and more. This annual tradition strengthens our love for each other and deepens our gratitude for family and friends.

As we enter the holiday season, Thanksgiving also provides an opportunity to spend time with family and friends, give thanks, and express gratitude to others. The celebration of holiday traditions such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa reflect our individual and collective values. The act of engaging in these annual traditions reinforces our history with family members and those with whom we share personal and cultural values, religious beliefs, and more. These are important ties that bind us together and become part of the legacy we hope to pass on to future generations.

This month we invite you to participate in a special VISTE tradition during Thanksgiving week as we undertake our 28th Annual Thanksgiving Meal Delivery. Many seniors live alone, so we are looking for volunteers to share holiday cheer by delivering 2,000 prepared meals and live plants to local seniors. This family-friendly event underscores the power of “neighbors helping neighbors” to bring care and compassion to those in need. Your participation reinforces our community’s legacy of volunteerism and ensure that legacy continues for years to come.

On behalf of the more than 4,500 seniors we currently serve, THANK YOU for your ongoing legacy of care, compassion, and support!
