Did you know that the number of local seniors in need of assistance is on the rise? In 2024, VISTE received an average of 75 new client applications each month. That jumped to a record number of 95 new applications received this June. How does a local nonprofit that receives limited federal funding, provides services at no charge, and has no other form of earned income continue to serve a growing number of seniors in need?
VISTE’s mission could not be accomplished without you, so we’re pleased to share several ways in which VISTE is preparing for the future and how the excitement is building…
Building our volunteer base: Summertime is often an exciting season filled with family vacations, breathtaking sunsets, and an endless quest to moderate the effects of high heat and humidity. While many of VISTE’s regular volunteers take time away, we also experience an influx of young people and volunteer groups of all ages. This newsletter shines a spotlight on just a few of the many volunteers that set aside time this summer to continue VISTE’s mission of service to local seniors in need. We are grateful for all their time, energy, and enthusiasm!
Building Board & Advisory Boards: We are excited to welcome new Board and Advisory Board members who began their first term of service July 1. Please join me in welcoming Kassia Alamm (Lakeland Chamber of Commerce) and Kevin Jones (Conner Exteriors & More) to the Board of Directors. Additionally, Dr. Joy Jackson (Polk County Health Department, retired) and Craig Collins (Sterling Creative Consultants) have stepped forward as new Advisory Board members. Board and Advisory Board members provide strategic direction and financial oversight in addition to serving as VISTE Ambassadors throughout our community. We are grateful to all who serve in these critically important volunteer roles!
Building much-needed physical infrastructure: We’re also very excited that interior renovations have begun on a 5,200 sq. ft. office building located immediately adjacent to our existing headquarters. This recently acquired building will provide much-needed office and meeting space along with the opportunity to offer additional support services for our elderly clients through collaborations with other senior service providers. Look for further updates in coming months…
At VISTE, the excitement is building, and that wouldn’t be possible without your continued support of time, talent, and treasure. Your continued support brings care and hope to a growing number of local seniors in need. It’s The VISTE Way, neighbors helping neighbors to help them remain safely and independently in their own homes with dignity and respect.
Forward!
