In the Spotlight: Jeannette Purdum

This month VISTE would like to recognize volunteer Jeannette Purdum! Jeannette normally volunteers in the VISTE office, but now, as many of us are isolating or working from home, Jeannette is making excellent use of her time at home by calling VISTE clients.

One of VISTE’s most popular programs involves decorating and delivering homemade birthday cakes for clients age 90 and over. However, for the safety of our clients and volunteers, VISTE has temporarily suspended this program. Jeannette is volunteering from home, calling every VISTE client on their birthday to wish them a Happy Birthday, and to help make the day as special as possible. She even calls clients on weekends and holidays if needed!

Jeannette does a wonderful job with this and is continuing to make a positive difference in the lives of VISTE clients, not only with birthday greetings, but by helping to reduce the social isolation that many of our seniors face every day. Thank you, Jeannette, and to all of our volunteers who continue to help VISTE at this time – we really could not do this without you!
